Original Description
Lead yard support. This award provides engineering, technical, and design support for Virginia class submarines, including maintaining, updating, and supporting the Virginia class design and related drawings and data, as well as technology insertion throughout construction and post-shakedown availability. Includes development studies and design efforts related to Virginia class submarine design improvements, preliminary and detailed component and system design, integration of systems engineering, test engineering, logistics engineering, and production engineering, as well as prototyping and qualification of new technologies. Additional efforts include the development and modification of the propulsion turbine throttle control system, Common Weapon Launcher (CWL) technology insertion and processor build, servo-valve redesign and testing, sensor redesign, and procurement of materials and studies supporting subsea and seabed warfare capabilities.
