Prime Contractor for New Nursing and Allied Health Building Completion by November 2027

Background
Sampson Community College is seeking a prime contractor for the construction of a new Nursing and Allied Health Building. The project aims to enhance educational facilities for nursing and allied health programs, supporting the college's mission to provide quality education and training in healthcare fields. The estimated completion date for the project is November 2027.

Work Details
The contract involves the construction of a new two-story, 36,048 gross square foot Nursing and Allied Health Building that includes specialized lab spaces for nursing, nurse aid, medical assisting, phlebotomy, surgical tech, and pharmacy. It features simulation labs such as an EMS lab, Emergency Room lab, medical office, and residential lab. A covered drive-thru area will be included to facilitate ambulatory access. The building will also contain general purpose classrooms, faculty offices, conferencing space, restrooms, vending areas, and a lobby.

Construction specifications include:
1. Type IIB Construction with Business (B) occupancy.
2. Steel structural framing system with roof bar joists and metal decking.
3. Brick veneer exterior walls with drainage cavities.
4. CMU or cold-formed metal framing for inner walls.
5. New plumbing, HVAC, electrical systems including fire alarm systems.
6. New pedestrian walkways and lighting.
7. Multiple alternate bids will be considered.

Period of Performance
The anticipated schedule includes a bid release around April 1, 2026; bid date on May 1, 2026; estimated notice to proceed by August 1, 2026; with completion expected by November 1, 2027.

Place of Performance
The project will be located at Sampson Community College Main Campus at 1801 Sunset Avenue, Clinton, NC.

Bidder Requirements
Bidders must complete the Prime Contractor Prequalification Form in its entirety and submit it as a single PDF file including all supporting documentation requested. Bidders should have appropriate North Carolina licenses and must indicate their NC Statewide Uniform Certification status (e.g., MBE, WBE). Insurance coverage requirements include Workers Compensation Insurance as required by law and comprehensive general liability insurance.
