Overview
Government Description
TVHS regulated medical waste and sharps removal. The VA Tennessee Valley Health Care System (TVHS) requires full-service Regulated Medical Waste (RMW) removal, including items contaminated with blood and body fluids/waste, trace chemotherapy wastes, sharps, pathological and microbiological waste, and other potentially infectious materials. The contract includes a reusable sharps program involving removal and disposal of existing sharps containers, installation of reusable sharps containers, in-service training to staff, monitoring and timely collection of full containers, replacement with clean/sanitized containers, and compliant transportation and disposal of medical sharps waste. All services must comply with industry standards and federal, state, and local regulations.
