TVHS Regulated Medical Waste and Sharps Removal   2

Background
The VA Tennessee Valley Health Care System (TVHS) is seeking a full-service contract for regulated medical waste removal and a reusable sharps program. The services shall be performed by qualified Contractors who are licensed and authorized to perform the work defined herein. The contractor is responsible for ensuring that all equipment/supplies and/or materials required during the performance of the work comply with all conformance standards in the industry.
TVHS prioritizes minimizing waste, recycling, and waste diversion.

Work Details
The contract includes regulated medical waste (RMW) removal, including items contaminated with blood and body fluids/waste, trace chemotherapy wastes, sharps, pathological and microbiological waste, or other potentially infectious materials. The reusable sharps program involves the removal and disposal of existing sharps containers system, installation of reusable sharps containers, in-service training to staff on use and handling of containers, monitoring reusable sharps containers at each point of use to provide timely collection of full containers and replacement with clean/sanitized containers, transportation and disposal of medical sharps waste in compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations.

Period of Performance
The period of performance for this contract service shall be five one-year ordering periods:
Ordering Period 1 – January 15, 2024, to January 14, 2025;
Ordering Period 2 – January 15, 2025, to January 14, 2026;
Ordering Period 3 – January 15, 2026, to January 14, 2027;
Ordering Period 4 – January 15, 2027, to January 14, 2028;
Ordering Period 5 – January 15, 2028, to January 14, 2029.

The place of performance includes various locations such as Alvin C. York VA Medical Center in Murfreesboro TN; Nashville Campus in Nashville TN; Chattanooga VA Outpatient Clinic in Chattanooga TN; Charlotte Avenue Clinic in Nashville TN; Women Veterans Healthcare Center in Nashville TN; Albion Street Outpatient Clinic in Nashville TN; Tullahoma Outpatient Clinic in Arnold Air Force Base TN; Clarksville Dental Clinic in Clarksville TN; International Plaza VA Clinic in Nashville TN; Clarksville VA Medical Clinic in Clarksville TN.
