Formula Grant
Overview
Grant Description
The THPO officer shall report monthly to the tribal council on all activities. They will hold a monthly meeting with the Cultural Advisory Committee. They will work with local agencies and educate the public on cultural sensitive areas. They will also work with county and government agencies, including historical societies and museums, pertaining to local history and document findings.
There are five tribes in this area who will be instrumental in working on the project that will be performed. The THPO officer will create updated MOU's with the Forest Service and Bureau of Land Management so each party has equal rights to respond to an area of critical concern. They will maintain and log all artifacts that have been unearthed due to progression.
This year, we will be ensuring that the Bodie Hills will be protected from looters and graffiti. The THPO officer will also help with endangered animals and plant species local to our area. They will participate in tracking off-road expeditions and working with local preserves. Additionally, they will hire an individual to help with job duties and monitoring sensitive areas.
The overall goal will be given at the end of the grant period to ensure all job duties have been performed to some degree to meet grant guidelines. This information will be given to the tribal council and the National Parks Service.
