Request: Integration of HIV primary care with behavioral health
BACHC requests your consideration of a grant in the amount of $150,000 to support the integration of behavioral health into our HIV primary care. The funding will support the hiring of a dedicated full-time licensed clinical social worker to serve the HIV population of the Antelope Valley and the Eastern Kern District.
Currently, BACHC has a total of 107 HIV/AIDS clients, of which only 34 are being seen by our behavioral health specialist, with 140 visits the entire year of 2021. Bartz anticipates the RW program to grow by 5%-10% annually because of the increasing number of clients migrating from neighboring cities in search of a more affordable way of life, and the Antelope Valley provides that.
Not having enough behavioral health facilities to address the needs of the HIV population can have severe negative influence on safety, poverty, employment, homelessness, and the local economy.
