Secondary Analysis and Integration of Existing Data to Elucidate Cancer Risk and Related Outcomes (R01 Clinical Trial Not Allowed)

Background
The National Cancer Institute (NCI), along with other participating Institutes, has issued this Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) to encourage applications that propose secondary data analysis and integration of existing datasets. The initiative aims to elucidate cancer risk and related outcomes, such as risk prediction, survival, and response to treatment.

Grant Details
The grant supports the analysis of existing clinical, environmental, surveillance, health services, vital statistics, behavioral, lifestyle, genomic, and molecular profiles data. Applicants are encouraged to conduct innovative analyses that may include new research aims addressed with existing data or novel combinations of datasets.

Specific tasks may involve linking and analyzing multi-level data types through system epidemiology approaches; employing innovative analytic techniques; assessing cancer-related behavioral health questions; advancing image analysis; developing analytical strategies for cancer surveillance; and addressing health inequities. All analyses must focus on elucidating cancer etiology, incidence, prevalence, natural history, or related outcomes.

Eligibility Requirements
Eligible applicants include higher education institutions (public or private), nonprofits (with or without 501(c)(3) status), for-profit organizations (including small businesses), local/state governments, Indian/Native American tribal governments (federally recognized and others), federal agencies, foreign organizations, and various other entities. Individuals from diverse backgrounds are encouraged to apply.

Period of Performance
The maximum project period is 5 years. The earliest start date for awarded projects is February 5, 2025.

Grant Value
The budget is limited to $350,000 direct costs per year. The total value of the grant will depend on the number of awards made based on NIH appropriations.
