Summary
This **Amendment 0002 to the Department of Veterans Affairs’ Request for Quotations (RFQ) 36C25226Q0670** provides official answers to offerors’ requests for information concerning **heating system piping repairs at the Captain James A. Lovell Federal Health Care Center, Building 134, North Chicago, Illinois**.
Issued by the VA Great Lakes Acquisition Center on August 20, 2026, the amendment states that the solicitation’s offer due date is not extended and that all other solicitation terms remain unchanged. Offerors must acknowledge receipt of the amendment in accordance with the instructions on Standard Form 30.
The amendment clarifies that Infection Control Risk Assessment containment requirements apply only to work affecting patient-care areas and do not apply to work performed entirely in the Building 134 penthouse mechanical space serving AHUs 1, 2, 3, and 5.
Threaded fittings are acceptable for piping under 2 inches, notwithstanding the general preference for butt-welded or socket-welded piping and fittings.
No project drawings will be provided or required because replacement-in-kind work is acceptable. The temperature-controls contractor for coordination of the new heating-system heat exchanger control valve assemblies is Automated Logic Corporation.
The amendment also defines FHCC staff assistance for system draining, glycol recovery, refilling, and startup. FHCC personnel will drain the system and capture the glycol before the contractor arrives.
After the contractor completes and passes the pressure test, FHCC personnel will assist with filling the makeup glycol feeder using the captured glycol. The contractor is expected to be present and work with FHCC personnel while manual valves are operated.
FHCC controls personnel will assist with system startup and provide BAS access as needed.
