Background
The United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) aims to foster innovation, competitiveness, and job growth in the U.S. by conducting high-quality patent and trademark examinations.

The Inventor's Assistance Center (IAC) is established under the Office of the Deputy Commissioner for Patents to provide information services to the public regarding patent examining policies and procedures. The IAC is staffed by former Patent Examiners with signature authority, enabling them to provide comprehensive answers to general inquiries about patent processes.

Work Details
The contractor will provide IAC services which include:
1. Staffing a full-time Program Manager responsible for day-to-day operations of the IAC.
2. Providing knowledgeable staff capable of addressing questions related to intellectual property, patent examination, and prosecution processes at a level equivalent to a Primary Patent Examiner.
3. Assisting the public with filling out forms, interpreting rules, and providing information about maintenance fees and petition processes.
4. Representing the IAC at USPTO events on three separate occasions, either virtually or in person, answering questions with expertise similar to that of a Primary Patent Examiner.
5. Delivering monthly reports and maintaining a call log for tracking inquiries and responses.

Period of Performance
Base Period: April 30, 2025 – April 29, 2026; Option Periods extend through April 29, 2030.

Place of Performance
The contract will be performed primarily at the USPTO campus in Alexandria, Virginia.
