2040A - Research, Development, Test and Evaluation, Army
Description
The Army Direct Report Headquarters - R&D program supports the U.S. Army's research, development, test, and evaluation efforts through two main projects: the Army Test and Evaluation Command (ATEC) and the Army Sexual Harassment/Assault Response and Prevention (SHARP) program. ATEC focuses on providing essential information to soldiers and acquisition decision-makers by conducting developmental testing, independent operational testing, evaluations, and assessments. This aligns with the Army's modernization priorities and supports the Army Futures Command by offering risk reduction support for experiments, demonstrations, requirements, research, development, and acquisition.
Project M65 under ATEC manages a wide range of functions necessary for executing developmental and operational test missions. These functions include human resources, safety, security, environmental management, strategic planning, operations, engineering logistics, resource management, policy standardization, public affairs, legal services, equal opportunity initiatives, and information technology support. The project also provides technical direction to various test directorates across multiple locations in the United States. ATEC's operations are crucial for supporting numerous developmental tests annually along with various operational events and evaluation documents that contribute to Army Signature Modernization Efforts.
The SHARP RDTE project aims to enhance the Army's ability to prevent sexual harassment and assault through focused research efforts. This project explores the nature of sexual harassment within the Army and its organizational impacts while examining behavioral patterns in military sexual assault cases. The research conducted under this project aims to develop effective prevention strategies and improve response systems for both male and female service members. By assessing training programs and outreach efforts related to sexual assault prevention, SHARP RDTE seeks to ensure these initiatives foster a respectful environment within the Army.
The Army Direct Report Headquarters - R&D program plays a critical role in advancing the U.S. Army's capabilities through rigorous testing and evaluation processes while addressing important social issues such as sexual harassment prevention. By aligning its objectives with broader modernization goals and focusing on evidence-based interventions for social challenges within the military context, this program contributes significantly to both operational readiness and organizational culture improvement within the Army.
