Passenger Carrying Vehicles

The goal of the Passenger Carrying Vehicles program is to procure and maintain a fleet of vehicles that support a variety of functions and missions at all levels of the Air Force. This includes sedans, law enforcement sedans, ambulances, and buses. Sedans are used for general transportation needs, with specific models dedicated for use by the Office of Special Investigations (OSI) and as chase cars for U-2 aircraft operations. Law Enforcement Sedans are equipped with a heavy-duty component package for law enforcement and security missions. Ambulances include bus ambulances for medical emergency situations and modular ambulances for patient transportation under field conditions. Buses support mass transit requirements for various Air Force units and missions.

The objectives of this program are to ensure that the Air Force has a reliable and diverse fleet of vehicles to support its operational needs. This includes providing vehicles for general transportation, law enforcement and security missions, medical evacuation operations, and mass transit requirements. The procurement of these vehicles is based on current requirements provided by the 441 Vehicle Support Chain Operations Squadron (VSCOS) using a priority buy model that calculates vehicle requirements by fund year based on depreciation, service life, sustainment cost, and mission priority. Additionally, funding for this program supports homeland defense missions, domestic emergency responses, and providing military support to civil authorities as required by legislation.
