3080F - Other Procurement, Air Force
Description
Fire Fighting/Crash Rescue Vehicles is a critical procurement initiative of the Air Force aimed at acquiring a variety of essential fire fighting and crash rescue vehicles. These vehicles are crucial for ensuring the safety and security of Air Force personnel, passengers, and assets in the event of aircraft fires or other emergencies. The program includes the procurement of various specialized vehicles such as the P-19 Crash Truck, P-21 Aerial Lift Truck, P-22 and P-24 Pumper Trucks, P-23 Crash Truck, P-26 Water Tanker Truck, P-29 Wild Land Firefighting Truck, P-30 Medium Rescue Vehicle, P-31 Hazardous Material Vehicle, and others. These vehicles are designed to meet the performance standards set by the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), and Air Force safety regulations.
The primary objective of Program 824010 is to ensure that Air Force bases have the necessary fire fighting and crash rescue capabilities to respond effectively to emergency situations involving aircraft fires or other hazardous incidents. The acquisition of specialized vehicles such as the P-19 Crash Truck, P-21 Aerial Lift Truck, and others is essential for providing rapid response and effective fire suppression capabilities at Air Force installations with flying missions. Additionally, these vehicles play a crucial role in providing fire protection for Air National Guard and Air Force Reserve installations located at municipal airports. The program also aims to support homeland defense missions, domestic emergency responses, and provide military support to civil authorities by equipping the Air Force with essential fire fighting equipment. Furthermore, the procurement of these vehicles aligns with the Air Force's operational imperatives related to Agile Combat Employment (ACE) and Pacific Deterrence Initiative (PDI) efforts in the Indo-Pacific region.
