Family Of Medium Tactical Veh (FMTV)

The Family of Medium Tactical Vehicles (FMTV) is a critical component of the Army's tactical and support vehicle fleet. The specific goals and objectives of this program include modernizing the medium fleet, reducing operating and support costs, resolving potential operational deficiencies, and providing multi-purpose transportation for combat, combat support, and combat service support units. The FMTV variants consist of trucks and trailers that are designed to perform over 55% of the Army's local, line haul, and unit resupply missions in various combat scenarios. Additionally, the program aligns with the Army Network Modernization Priority Line of Effort #4, Command Post (CP), and supports the Command Post Integrated Infrastructure (CPI2) initiative by implementing capabilities that enable the service to employ command posts across the operational spectrum.

Furthermore, the FMTV A2 model is an upgraded version that supports the Long Term Armoring Strategy (LTAS) and provides enhanced armor protection, payload capacity, mobility, ride quality, safety, and electrical power generation.
