Description
Amphibious Equipment funded through the Navy's Other Procurement budget activity, aims to procure equipment to support Navy-Marine Corps amphibious operations, Logistics Over the Shore, and Joint Logistics Over the Shore operations. This includes the ability to execute ship-to-shore transfer of vehicles, dry cargo, and liquid cargo over bare beaches and through improved and semi-improved port facilities. The program also provides funding for the Joint Petroleum Over the Shore (JPOTS) capability set in support of Assault Follow-on Echelon (AFOE) and Maritime Prepositioning Force (MPF) operations as well as other ground forces ashore. The equipment acquired through this program is designed to enhance the support of Marine Corps amphibious and Logistics Over the Shore (LOTS) operations through ship-to-shore transfer of bulk petroleum, making it a key part of the Strategic Sealift Program.
The specific objectives of Program 6033 - Amphibious Equipment include enhancing the support of Marine Corps amphibious and Logistics Over the Shore (LOTS) operations by providing equipment for ship-to-shore transfer of bulk petroleum. Additionally, this program aims to provide Joint Petroleum Over the Shore (JPOTS) capability set in support of Assault Follow-on Echelon (AFOE) and Maritime Prepositioning Force (MPF) operations as well as other ground forces ashore. This capability is crucial for supporting Distributed Maritime Operations (DMO) and Expeditionary Advance Base Operations (EABO), enabling the transfer of bulk petroleum from a littoral transition point to a beach termination unit.
