Description

Establish a Watertight Closure (WTC) Assessment Program to conduct a thorough analysis of a vessel’s watertight integrity and remaining service life of all watertight closures and Damage Control (DC) Fittings. The program will allow for repair of watertight closures and DC fittings, which have been determined to pose a threat to operations, crew safety, and vessel watertight integrity. The program will also provide training to Damage Control Petty Officers (DCPOs) in order to strengthen and reinforce proper maintenance and repair procedures of WTC and DC fittings to improve safety and to reduce Coast Guard maintenance costs.
