Original Description
Columbia class design completion. Includes design completion, engineering, and technical support for the columbia-class fleet ballistic missile submarines (SSBNS), as well as component and technology development, missile tube module and reactor compartment bulkhead prototyping and manufacturing, and United Kingdom (UK) strategic weapon support system kit manufacturing as part of the joint U.S./UK common missile compartment program. Additional efforts encompass lead yard support, continuous production of shipyard components, shipyard labor for outfitted missile tubes, Submarine Industrial Base (SIB) development and expansion, supplier development, and investments in production backup units and workforce development supporting the columbia, Virginia, and ford class nuclear shipbuilding enterprise. The contract includes advance procurement, advance construction, coordinated material buys, and full construction of the lead and follow ships (ssbn 826 and ssbn 827), as well as implementation of enhanced cyber security measures and design for affordability.
