Original Description
THE GOAL OF THIS ACTIVITY IS TO IMPROVE EARLY GRADE READING SKILLS OF CHILDREN IN GRADES ONE TO THREE IN CAMBODIA, INCLUDING STUDENTS WITH DISABILITIES. USAID IS WORKING WITH THE MINISTRY OF EDUCATION, YOUTH AND SPORT (MOEYS) AND THE GLOBAL PARTNERSHIP FOR EDUCATION TO IMPLEMENT THE NATIONAL EARLY GRADE LEARNING PROGRAM IN AT LEAST 5 PROVINCES. THROUGH THIS ACTIVITY USAID WILL 1) SUPPORT THE ABILITY OF CAMBODIAN SYSTEMS TO IMPROVE READING AT SCALE; 2) SUPPORT IMPROVEMENTS ALONG THE ENTIRE EDUCATION VALUE CHAIN AND PROMOTE GREATER COHERENCE IN THE APPROACH TO EARLY GRADE READING; AND 3) MEASURE IMPACT ON STUDENT LEARNING AND GENERATE RIGOROUS EVIDENCE TO ASSIST THE MOEYS TO EFFECTIVELY PLAN AN IMPLEMENT EARLY GRADE READING PROGRAMS THROUGHOUT CAMBODIA.
