Background
West Virginia University (WVU), on behalf of its Board of Governors, is initiating this Request for Proposals (RFP) for a qualified, experienced, and licensed electrical contractor. The goal is to provide delegated design and installation services for the replacement and upgrade of indoor lighting at the Caperton Indoor Practice Facility, which serves as the indoor practice facility for WVU football and other team sports.
Work Details
The contractor will be responsible for the complete replacement of the existing lighting system above the playing surface in the Caperton Indoor Practice Facility. The project aims to achieve an average illumination of 75 foot-candles (fc) across the entire surface. The facility currently uses incandescent up/down lighting and requires an upgrade to meet modern standards.
Period of Performance
The substantial completion date is set for May 31, 2026, with final completion required by June 15, 2026.
Place of Performance
The work will be performed at the Caperton Indoor Practice Facility located at 2 Ira Errett Rodgers Drive, Morgantown, WV 26506.
Bidder Requirements
Bidders must be qualified electrical contractors with relevant experience and licenses. Participation in a mandatory pre-proposal meeting on January 29, 2026, is required. Contractors must comply with West Virginia University's EH&S Contractor Safety Program.
