Background
The Milwaukee County Transit System (MCTS) is seeking proposals for year-round lawn care and landscaping services for all MCTS-owned and operated sites. The goal of this contract is to maintain the grounds in a safe, clean, and visually appealing manner throughout all seasons. This initiative aligns with MCTS's mission to provide quality transit services while ensuring that their facilities are well-kept and inviting.
Work Details
The contractor will be responsible for a variety of landscaping services including:
- Fertilization
- Soil building
- Pruning
- Mowing
- Irrigation
- Integrated pest management (IPM)
- Weed/insect/disease control
- Litter control
- Sweeping
- Planting
- Repairing and maintaining planting beds
- Edging
- Any other horticultural practices necessary for healthy growth of turf and landscape plantings.
Additionally, snow removal services may be required on an as-needed basis. The contract encompasses multiple locations including the MCTS Administration Building, Fleet Maintenance Building, Fond Du Lac Garage, Kinnickinnic Garage, and various rest stops. The contractor must provide all necessary labor, equipment, materials, and adhere to applicable regulations and safety standards.
Period of Performance
The contract will commence on April 1, 2026, and will run for three years until March 31, 2029. There are two optional one-year extensions available if both parties agree to the terms.
Place of Performance
Services will be performed at multiple MCTS locations in Milwaukee County including:
- MCTS Administration Building (1942 North 17th Street)
- Fleet Maintenance Building (1525 West Vine Street)
- Fond Du Lac Garage (2932 North 35th Street)
- Kinnickinnic Garage (1710 South Kinnickinnic Avenue)
- Various rest stops located at 60th & Vliet Street and MLK Jr Dr.
Bidder Requirements
Contractors must have at least five years of experience in providing similar services. They must possess all applicable federal, state, and local licenses required to perform the work. Additionally, contractors are required to have staff with certifications such as ISA Certified Arborist credentials for tree care services.
