CT Scanner for Waukesha County Medical Examiner's Office

Waukesha County is seeking to procure a CT scanner along with all necessary associated equipment for the Medical Examiner's Office. The scope of work includes the provision of the CT equipment, delivery, set-up, calibration, training for staff, and annual maintenance services. Additionally, the contract requires the inclusion of Picture Archive Communication System (PACS) and/or Vendor Neutral Archive (VNA) software functionalities. These software solutions must support secure short, mid, and long-term storage options, enable remote retrieval of images and studies, and provide secure import and export capabilities for images and studies. This solicitation is issued by Waukesha County for the Medical Examiner's Office. The Medical Examiner's Office, originally constructed in 1993 and renovated in 2009, is currently undergoing its second renovation. The current upgrades focus on enhancing cooler storage, expanding the autopsy and tissue preparation areas, and specifically creating space for the installation of a CT scanner and related equipment. The county anticipates a future vacancy for a pathologist, which is expected to be difficult to fill due to a nationwide shortage of forensic pathologists and a high workload 765 autopsies/external examinations were performed in 2021, averaging 383 per pathologist, which exceeds the industry standard of 250 per pathologist annually. Waukesha County believes that modernizing the facility, upgrading technology, and adding a CT scanner will be critical in attracting qualified pathologist candidates by improving facility quality and the work environment. Interested vendors must provide the CT scanner and all related equipment, ensure delivery and set-up, perform calibration, conduct training for staff, and offer annual maintenance. The solution must include PACS and/or VNA software with secure storage, remote access, and secure import/export functions for images and studies.
