Background
The Department of Health seeks to implement a suicide prevention gathering for tribal communities that will build upon existing guidance provided by tribal partners and prior prevention accomplishments. The DOH requires a conference planner with extensive experience working with American Indian/Alaska Native (AI/AN) populations to combine stories of lived experiences with meaningful, data-driven insights to help DOH and its partners reach underserved communities and provide insight and education on suicide prevention to the participants that attend this event.
The conference planner must be able to utilize the historical knowledge of the 2023 conference event and complete the contract deliverables by the June 30, 2024 deadline for funding.

Work Details
Kauffman & Associates, Inc., (KAI) will take the primary lead and initiate the planning and coordination to host and implement a suicide prevention gathering for the Washington Tribes, Tribal organizations, and their partners. This gathering, with a theme of resiliency and wellness is one strategic response to the high rates of suicide among tribal populations in the state.
American Indian and Alaska Natives residing in WA consistently experience the highest completion and ideation rates in the state, as well as nationally. Because of historical trauma and its impact on every generation of native people, and the health disparities, AI/AN continue to be at the highest risk for deaths by suicide.

Period of Performance
The contract will be issued on or around Date of Execution (approximately March 15, 2024), and will continue through June 30, 2024 for the initial term. The cost of this contract is $145,000.00. DOH may opt to extend the contract for an additional three (3) times in one (1) year increments, or in whatever increments meet DOH business needs, not to exceed four (4) years total, subject to the availability funding and if required.

Place of Performance
The event will take place in-person at a location determined by Kauffman & Associates Inc., with a focus on two areas: a suicide prevention event focused on youth, as well as strength and resiliency for all ages.
