Landscape Maintenance Services

Background
The Washington State Department of Ecology is seeking a landscaping service contractor to provide regular landscape maintenance at its headquarters located in Lacey, Washington.

The agency's mission is to protect, preserve, and enhance Washington’s environment, and promote the wise management of air, land, and water for the benefit of current and future generations. The contract aims to ensure the maintenance of the landscape surrounding a 322,000 square foot building and its associated grounds, which include various planting beds, grass areas, and natural forest.

Work Details
The contractor will provide labor, materials, supplies, and any necessary equipment not supplied by Ecology for the following services:
1. **Grass Maintenance**: Mowing various types of grass areas with specified cutting heights and frequencies.
2. **Fertilizer Application**: Fertilization based on soil testing with specific rates and application times for different landscape types.
3. **Weed Control**: Application of herbicides as directed by Ecology's contract manager with record-keeping requirements.
4. **Insect Control**: Similar to weed control but focused on insect pests as identified by Ecology.
5. **Irrigation System Management**: Activation, routine maintenance, and winterization of irrigation systems for both grass and planted areas.
6. **Monitoring**: Monthly site monitoring for pest issues with reports submitted to Ecology's contract manager.
7. **Emergency Repairs**: Capability to respond to urgent repair needs within two hours of notification from Ecology's contract manager.

Period of Performance
The contract period will be from January 1, 2025, to December 31, 2026, with potential extensions up to five additional years at Ecology's discretion.

Place of Performance
The services will be performed at the Washington State Department of Ecology headquarters located at 300 Desmond Drive SE, Lacey, WA 98503.
