The Washington State Department of Natural Resources, hereafter called Agency/DNR , is initiating this Solicitation to solicit proposals from firms to conduct fuels reduction work on approximately 111 acres of forested lands adjacent to the City of Cle Elum, Washington to reduce potential fire severity and risk of catastrophic fire within and surrounding the treatment areas.
Background
The Washington State Department of Natural Resources is initiating this Solicitation to solicit proposals from firms to conduct fuels reduction work on approximately 111 acres of forested lands adjacent to the City of Cle Elum, Washington to reduce potential fire severity and risk of catastrophic fire within and surrounding the treatment areas. The project area includes lands city-owned lands leased to the Washington State Horse Park (WASHP). The proposed work site is within the boundaries of the Cle Elum Priority Landscape as identified in DNR’s 20-Year Forest Health Strategic Plan.

Work Details
The intent of this RFQQ is to procure hazardous wildland fuels reduction services under one contract to reduce the risk of catastrophic wildfire on approximately 111 acres of forested lands adjacent to the city of Cle Elum and I-90. The project area is located on private, state, and city lands around the heavily forested and popular recreation area of Cle Elum, WA.
The work will include thinning and pruning of trees and shrubs to modify fuels arrangements in an effort to keep future fires on the ground, as opposed to active crown fires which are much more resistant to control. Treatment areas will create a strategic shaded fuel break and provide better conditions for first responders when a wildfire does occur in the vicinity. Work will consist of vegetation clearing such as tree thinning, tree pruning, chipping, and debris disposal by hand or mechanized equipment within the I-90 ROW, City of Cle Elum and WASHP property , and adjacent private lands.

Period of Performance
The period of performance for any resulting contract is tentatively scheduled to begin no later than March 11, 2024 and end on May 20, 2026. Amendments extending the period of performance, if any, shall be at the sole discretion of the Agency.

Place of Performance
Work will be performed in Kittitas County, Washington.
