Coal Creek Trunk Upgrade - ReBid

Background
The Coal Creek Trunk Upgrade project is initiated by King County to replace and rehabilitate the Coal Creek Trunk pipeline. The agency's mission is to enhance the infrastructure for wastewater conveyance, ensuring environmental protection and community safety. The goal of this contract is to execute a comprehensive upgrade of the existing sewer system using various advanced construction methods.

Work Details
The project encompasses a range of activities including trenchless methods, microtunneling, open cut methods, pipe relining, stream restoration, parking lot restoration, construction of access roadways, trail improvements, decommissioning existing sewer pipes and maintenance holes, environmental mitigation efforts, planting initiatives, and wetland restoration.

Specific subcontracting opportunities include:
- Traffic control
- Temporary erosion and sedimentation control
- Trenchless tunneling
- Pipe installation and settlement monitoring for pipes ranging from 8-inch to 36-inch diameter
- Grading and site work including hardscape site restoration
- Landscaping
- Tree removal and protection
- Stream restoration.

The Engineer’s Estimate for the project is $88,563,000.

Period of Performance
The contract work is expected to commence following the bid opening on July 16, 2024. The timeline for completion will be outlined in subsequent project phases as determined by the awarded contractor.

Place of Performance
The work will be carried out at Coal Creek Parkway SE and associated natural areas between the intersection with Interstate 405 and just south of the Upper Coal Creek West Trailhead. Additionally, a spur approximately 1,300 feet east of Coal Creek Parkway SE will also be included in the performance area.
