Child Care Lease

Background
Spokane Colleges is seeking to address the critical need for accessible and affordable childcare options for students, employees, and community members during academic breaks. The initiative aims to explore partnerships with qualified daycare providers to offer on-campus childcare services during these periods. Spokane Community College (SCC) and Spokane Falls Community College (SFCC) serve approximately 30,000 students across multiple campuses and regional centers in Washington State.

Work Details
The RFI seeks information from experienced daycare providers capable of offering high-quality childcare for school-age children during designated break periods such as winter break, spring break, and summer break. Providers must comply with Washington State childcare regulations and demonstrate proven experience in operating licensed daycare facilities.

The anticipated spaces for lease include:
- At SCC: Approximately 7,467 square feet of classroom/indoor recreation space and 280 square feet of office space located at 1810 N. Greene St., Washington.
- At SFCC: Space within the SFCC Student Athletic Center, which includes various athletic facilities and classrooms.

Mandatory tasks include providing licensed childcare services from 7 am to 5 pm during breaks, maintaining compliance with health and safety standards, employing certified staff who have passed background checks, offering structured activities that promote development, and maintaining clear communication with Spokane Colleges regarding enrollment and incidents.

Period of Performance
The contract period is tentatively scheduled to begin in Summer 2026, with a preferred start date coinciding with Spring Break 2026. The initial contract duration will be one year.

Place of Performance
The services will be performed at Spokane Community College (SCC) located at 1810 N. Greene St., Washington, and Spokane Falls Community College (SFCC) within its Student Athletic Center.

Bidder Requirements
Providers must hold a valid childcare license in Washington State and have a minimum of five years’ experience operating licensed childcare programs. They must demonstrate the ability to provide high-quality care for school-aged children, maintain a safe environment, provide ongoing staff training, operate within designated campus spaces under agreed lease terms, adhere to campus security protocols, maintain liability insurance as specified by Spokane Colleges, and prioritize enrollment for community members.
