2024 PCC-Railroad Ballast & Aggregates

Background
The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) is the owner of the PCC Railway System located in eastern Washington. This solicitation aims to establish one or more open contracts with qualified vendors to meet future aggregate needs for the railway system.

The contract is issued under the authority of the Revised Code of Washington chapter 39.26 RCW, which governs how state agencies acquire goods and services.

Work Details
Vendors are required to provide pricing per ton for various types of aggregates including:
- Railroad Ballast (4 & 4A)
- Yard Ballast (No. 5 & No. 57)
- Crush Surfacing Base Course (CSBC)
- Crush Surfacing Top Course (CSTC).

Additionally, vendors must provide a price per ton-mile for delivery and stockpiling of these materials. The specifications for Railroad Ballast include crushed stone from specific types of rocks such as granite and similar igneous rocks, with strict adherence to local, state, and federal codes including WSDOT standards and ASTM specifications.

Delivery, storage, and handling requirements are outlined to ensure cleanliness and prevent contamination. Vendors must also comply with grading requirements as specified by AREMA standards for ballast materials. Period of Performance
