Background
The Town of Stockbridge, Vermont is seeking qualified contractors to provide winter highway maintenance services for the 2026–2027 winter season. The Town maintains approximately 33.35 miles of Class 3 town highways and approximately 5.10 miles of Class 2 town highways, with the goal of ensuring safe travel conditions during winter weather.
Work Details
The contractor shall provide complete winter maintenance services for all designated Town highways, including: snow plowing, sanding, ice control, snow removal from intersections and other necessary areas, and additional services as required to maintain safe travel conditions.
Continuous monitoring of weather conditions is required, with prompt responses to storm events and changing roadway conditions. Snow plowing operations will commence based on snowfall accumulation and roadway conditions as determined by the Town or in consultation with the Town’s Road Commissioner or Selectboard. The contractor must maintain all traveled ways in a safe and passable condition during and after winter storms.
They must perform sanding whenever icy or hazardous conditions exist and be available on a twenty-four-hour basis during the winter maintenance season. Adequate staffing and equipment must be provided to respond timely to winter weather events. The Town may establish priorities for snow plowing and sanding operations.
Period of Performance
The contract will commence on or about November 1, 2026, and end on or about April 15, 2027.

Bidder Requirements
Contractors must possess all necessary licenses and qualifications required by law for winter highway maintenance operations. They must also provide certificates of insurance demonstrating commercial general liability insurance coverage of at least $1,000,000 per occurrence and $2,000,000 aggregate; automobile liability insurance of at least $1,000,000 combined single limit; and workers’ compensation insurance as required by Vermont law.
The Town of Stockbridge must be named as an additional insured on all liability policies.
