Valley Academy Renovations

Background
Waynesboro City Public Schools is seeking a contractor to renovate the restroom and kitchen areas at Valley Academy, located at 59 John Lewis Road, Suite 101, Fishersville, Virginia. The goal of this project is to enhance the facilities for students and staff, ensuring compliance with accessibility standards and improving overall functionality.

Work Details
The scope of the project includes:
- Demolition of existing interior walls for Girls & Boys Bathrooms & closet, wall between kitchen and hallway, existing cabinets and plumbing fixtures in all renovated areas, and existing drop ceiling in all renovated areas.
- Construction of three ADA accessible enclosed stall bathrooms, an open common area for the bathrooms with two lavatory sinks with cabinets underneath and a mop sink.
- Construction of a new closet to enclose the current water heater.
- Creation of a kitchen approximately 9' x 13' by constructing new walls, adding utilities for a new stove and stackable washer/dryer while maintaining utilities for current appliances. Standard upper and lower cabinets will be added along with countertops coordinated with the owner.
- In all areas: hang and finish new drywall, paint all walls and trim in affected areas (1 wall color, 1 trim color), flooring as close to existing as possible, connect all plumbing and electric to existing utilities.
- Repairs/Replacements include replacing an existing 4’ x 3’ window and patching brick on the exterior wall. Modifications to existing electric will accommodate the new floor plan (reuse existing ceiling lights as possible). Cutting and removing concrete may be needed to connect to existing water and sewer lines within the bathroom and kitchen area.

Period of Performance
The contract will commence upon award and is expected to be completed within a specified timeframe that accommodates scheduling around students and staff.

The renovations will take place at Valley Academy located at 59 John Lewis Road, Suite 101, Fishersville, Virginia.

Bidder Requirements
Bidders must comply with anti-discrimination laws as outlined in the solicitation. Contractors are required to maintain a drug-free workplace. Additionally, contractors must provide proof of insurance coverage including Workers’ Compensation, Employer’s Liability, Commercial General Liability, and Automobile Liability. Bidders must also ensure that their employees have undergone background checks regarding criminal history related to child safety.
