URFP# DHCD-905-65-05-22-2024 Wayfinding Signage City of Petersburg VA

Background
The Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) is issuing a contract for Wayfinding Signage Design Services in the City of Petersburg, VA. The purpose of the project is to mitigate the negative impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on the tourism industry in Petersburg by supporting small businesses in the primary historic commercial district with a professionally designed comprehensive wayfinding signage system. The final design will address both vehicular and pedestrian needs, unify the wayfinding signage design throughout the city, and feature the branding and logo for the City of Petersburg and/or the organization charged with Main Street activities in the Downtown and Olde Towne districts as appropriate.

Work Details
The contractor is required to provide a comprehensive and unified system of wayfinding signage in the City of Petersburg. This includes working with DHCD to identify and establish a Wayfinding Task Group of community stakeholders, collecting and reviewing existing data, studies, and brand information, conducting a site visit that will include a kick-off meeting, a tour of the focus area, focus groups and interviews with community stakeholders as needed, providing at least three draft design options based on the information gathered, presenting the draft design options to the Task Group for feedback, producing more fully developed design plans based on feedback, delivering the final design to the Task Group, providing a final signage design schematic, sign program and maps showing content of each new sign and its location, a sign removal plan, structural specifications for each type of sign including locations and cost estimates that will guide fabrication, installation, and implementation of the plan.

The period of performance for this contract is from July 1, 2024 to May 31, 2025.
