Town of Abingdon - RFP for PR Firm

Background
Visit Abingdon, the official tourism brand for the Town of Abingdon, Virginia, is seeking proposals from experienced and innovative Public Relations (PR) firms to enhance tourism marketing efforts. The goal is to utilize strategic media visits, earned media, and storytelling to capture the unique essence of Abingdon. This initiative is part of the Town's commitment to promoting its attractions and boosting the visitor economy.

Work Details
The selected PR firm will be responsible for:
a. Media Relations and Outreach:
- Develop and execute a media relations strategy targeting tourism-based media outlets.
- Coordinate and host media visits, familiarization (FAM) trips, and press tours.
- Secure earned media placements in top-tier travel publications, blogs, and other relevant media channels.

b. Reporting and Analytics:
- Provide comprehensive reports on earned media, including media values and reach.
- Offer strategic insights and recommendations for improving media outreach and engagement.

c. Influencer and Travel Writer Management:
- Vet potential travel writers and influencers ensuring alignment with Visit Abingdon’s brand and objectives.
- Advise on content focus and opportunities to maximize exposure and engagement.

d. Storytelling and Content Development:
- Collaborate with Visit Abingdon to craft a unique story highlighting the town's attractions, history, culture, and events.
- Create press releases, media kits, and other PR materials to effectively communicate Abingdon's appeal.

Period of Performance
The contract will commence on September 9, 2024, following the selection process which occurs from August 26 to August 30, 2024.

Place of Performance
The services will be performed primarily in Abingdon, Virginia.
