Specialty Flooring for the Veterinary Medicine Teaching Hospital

Background
The Veterinary Medicine Teaching Hospital at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Virginia Tech) is seeking proposals from qualified vendors to provide and install flooring materials for the Veterinary Medicine Large Animal Hospital. The existing flooring requires resurfacing due to heavy use and age. The project aims to minimize disruptions to hospital operations while coordinating closely with the College of Veterinary Medicine.

Work Details
The contractor will provide and install approximately 13,600 square feet of flooring as per the following specifications: a layered system consisting of a cushioned rubber pad base layer on slab, a scratch coat sealer layer, a urethane wear layer, and a painted layer topping with aluminum oxide texture. An integral base matching the floor color is also required. The contractor must remove and dispose of existing flooring, prepare the subbase, deliver, and install new flooring. Installation must be coordinated with university staff to avoid disruption to facility operations.

Period of Performance
The selected vendor must deliver the flooring and associated materials by December 15, 2025, or as coordinated with Virginia Tech following award. The contract period extends until the project is completed and accepted.

Place of Performance
The work will be performed at the Veterinary Medicine Teaching Hospital located at Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Virginia.

Bidder Requirements
Bidders must comply with SWaM participation requirements and are encouraged to utilize SWaM subcontractors if not classified as SWaM themselves. Additionally, bidders must register as vendors within the eVA electronic procurement system prior to proposal submission.
