Sonic Drilling

Background
The Virginia Department of Energy is issuing this Invitation for Bid (IFB) to obtain sealed bids for sonic drilling services in support of the Earth MRI Priority II Grant. The goal of this contract is to perform sonic drilling at specified locations, primarily at Kyanite Mining Corp and Crimora Mine Retreat, to support geological studies and data collection.

Work Details
The contractor shall provide all labor, supervision, equipment, materials, tools, transportation, permits, disposal, and incidentals necessary to perform sonic drilling services. The work includes:

1. Furnishing and operating equipment to complete approximately four (4) sonic drill borings using 4-inch by 6-inch sonic drilling methods.
2. Drilling to a total depth of up to forty (40) meters across all project locations (10 meters per hole).
3. Site mobilization and demobilization, drilling operations, sampling activities, and site restoration.
4. Supplying materials such as:
- 35-pound Bentonite Chips
- 32-pound Portland Cement
- Fourteen (14) wooden core boxes.

The contractor must coordinate all field activities with the Virginia Department of Energy Project Manager prior to commencement of work and maintain compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.

Period of Performance
The initial period of the contract will begin on the date of award and will remain in effect until the project is completed. Construction work time is estimated at 30 calendar days after receipt of Notice to Proceed.

Place of Performance
The contract will be performed at Kyanite Mine located at 30 Willis Mountain Plant Lane, Dillwyn, VA 23936 and Crimora Mine Retreat located at 691 Crimora Mine Road, Crimora, VA 24431.

Bidder Requirements
Bidders must comply with specific requirements including maintaining all necessary licenses and certifications throughout the contract term. The contractor must also submit a Small Business Subcontracting Plan if applicable and provide evidence of compliance with this plan monthly if awarded a contract over $100,000.
