Shenandoah River SP - Fireplace & Chimney Repairs

Background
The Commonwealth of Virginia's Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) is issuing this Invitation for Bids (IFB-199-VSP-2026-005) to establish a contract with a qualified vendor for the installation of new woodburning fireplace inserts and necessary maintenance and repairs to the chimneys in specific cabins at Shenandoah River State Park.
The agency aims to enhance the safety and functionality of the park's facilities, ensuring they meet operational standards.

Work Details
The contractor will be responsible for the following tasks:
1. Attendance at a mandatory pre-bid meeting on September 4, 2025, at Shenandoah River State Park Visitor Center.
2. Installation of new stainless-steel fireplace inserts (Majestic Sovereign 36” w/ black with glass bi-fold doors or approved equivalent) in cabins 1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, and 11.
3. Demo and removal of existing units and fireplace stone veneer; all debris must be disposed of by the contractor.
4. Reframing modifications as needed for new fireplace installation.
5. Installation of Durock with tile (Gleeze Grigio 2”x6” from Morris Tile in Richmond VA) using latex modified thinset mortar with non-sanded grout.
6. Replacement of all wood trims to match existing stain colors approved by park staff.
7. Installation of stainless steel twin wall liners in all cabin chimneys with a 20-year warranty meeting NFPA standards.
8. Installation of stainless steel flue dampers and chimney caps with spark arrestors on all cabin chimneys.
9. Conducting a CSIA-Certified Chimney Inspection post-completion with an inspection report sent to the issuing agency.

Period of Performance
Work must commence no later than ten calendar days after receipt of award purchase order and must be completed prior to December 1, 2025.

Shenandoah River State Park, located at 350 Daughter of Stars Drive, Bentonville, VA, 22610.

Bidder Requirements
Bidders must have a Class A license from the Virginia Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation to perform the work specified in this contract. Additionally, bidders are required to submit a Small Business Subcontracting Plan detailing their plans for utilizing DSBSD-certified small businesses.
