River North Correctional Fire Alarm Inspection, Smoke Detector Sensitivity Test, Sprinkler Inspection, Fire Hydrant Flowing Test & Hood Inspections, Preventive Maintenance & Repair

Background
The Commonwealth of Virginia, Department of Corrections, Western Regional Office is issuing this Invitation for Bids (IFB) to establish a contract for fire alarm and sprinkler system inspections, smoke detector sensitivity tests, fire hydrant flowing tests, hood inspections, preventive maintenance, and repair services at the River North Correctional Center.

The goal is to ensure compliance with applicable state and federal codes and NEFA standards while maintaining safety within the facility.

Work Details
The contractor will provide all travel, labor, and inspections necessary to meet applicable codes and standards. Specific tasks include:

1. One (1) Annual Fire Alarm System Inspection and four (4) Quarterly Smoke Detector Sensitivity Tests covering seven (7) fire alarm panels and 945 smoke heads.
2. Four (4) Quarterly and one (1) Annual Sprinkler Inspection covering fourteen (14) wet systems, three (3) anti-freeze systems, and ten (10) backflow devices.
3. Two (2) Bi-Annual Hood Inspections for three hoods.
4. One (1) Annual Fire Hydrant Flowing Test for twelve hydrants.
5. All inspections must be conducted by trained fire protection technicians. The contractor must notify facility management of any defective work or materials found during inspections. Repairs must be performed during normal business hours unless otherwise agreed upon.

Period of Performance
The contract period will be for one year starting from the date of award with the possibility of renewal for additional years as specified in the contract.

Bidder Requirements
Bidders must be registered in eVA to submit bids electronically. Contractors must be EST Certified and provide proof of insurance before work begins. They must also comply with all licensing requirements set forth by the State of Virginia.
