Richneck Elementary School Security Vestibule & Office Alterations

Background
The project involves the construction of a one-story Vestibule addition totaling approximately 900 S.F. at the main entrance of the existing Richneck Elementary School. Additionally, it includes interior alterations at the adjacent main entrance, Lobby, Corridor, and Administrative Offices. The procurement officer is Shannon Bailey from Newport News Public Schools.

Work Details
The project includes clearing and demolition at the existing entry canopy and adjacent yard, preparation of building pad, grading and drainage, restoration of the site, new construction of a steel-framed, brick and EIFS-clad structure with windows and doors, HVAC and electrical work.
Interior work alters existing load-bearing and non-load-bearing masonry walls and partitions, provides lintels or new openings, fire-rated HM storefronts and glass.
Work also includes interior demolition, provision of new interior wood casework, doors and frames, finishes, ceilings, plumbing, HVAC, lighting and electrical work.
Additionally, work will include removal and replacement of the school’s main electrical distribution panel (MDP) at the Main Electrical Room.
The new replacement panel and new electrical sub-panel shall be furnished by Newport News Public Schools and installed by the Contractor.
The project requires a shutdown of school power and coordination with Dominion Energy.
