RFP 24-25-023 Security Services Danville Passenger Train Station

Background
The City of Danville, Virginia, is seeking proposals for security services at the Danville Passenger Train Station. The goal of this contract is to ensure the safety and security of the train station premises while Amtrak passengers are present. The contract aims to provide a uniformed, unarmed security officer to protect the premises and manage access after train operations.

Work Details
The contractor will provide one uniformed, unarmed security officer per shift to oversee the following areas: Amtrak Lobby, passenger loading platforms, and grounds around the Train Station and Science Center. Key responsibilities include:

- Unlocking and disarming the security system at the start of each shift.
- Locking and arming the system at the end of each shift.
- Directing passengers upon arrival.
- Ensuring no passengers remain in the building after train departures.
- Maintaining a clean environment by removing trash.
- Documenting train schedules and passenger counts.
- Communicating with local police when necessary.

The officer must also complete parking permits for overnight vehicles left on site.

Period of Performance
The contract will commence on October 1, 2024, and conclude on September 30, 2025. There is an option to renew for four additional one-year periods upon mutual agreement. Labor rate increases are capped at 5% per year.
