Background
The Colonial Heights City School Board (CHPS) is seeking proposals for the design and installation of an HVAC system for the Colonial Heights Technical Center Building. The goal of this contract is to provide a complete, turnkey installation that meets the specific needs of the school facility.
Work Details
The Contractor shall provide all labor, materials, equipment, tools, supervision, and services necessary to deliver a complete installation of two (2) VRF heat recovery HVAC systems. This includes:
- Engineering services and system design
- Preparation of construction/shop drawings compliant with applicable codes
- Installation of two (2) outdoor condenser units
- Installation of nineteen (19) indoor units serving designated classrooms
- Installation of all required branch controllers
- Refrigerant piping installation including pressure testing, evacuation, and charging
- Installation of condensate drain piping routed to approved discharge locations
- Electrical power and control wiring installation in conduit from electrical panels with thermostat integration in each classroom
- System startup, testing, commissioning, and training for Owner’s personnel on system use and maintenance
- Delivery of closeout documentation including as-built drawings, operation manuals, and warranty information
- Obtaining all required permits and inspections while maintaining a clean job site.
Period of Performance
The contract work is expected to commence after receipt of award and will be completed within the timeline specified by the School Board.
Place of Performance
The work will be performed at the Colonial Heights Technical Center located at 3451 Conduit Road, Colonial Heights, VA 23834.
Bidder Requirements
Bidders must attend a mandatory pre-bid meeting on April 6th, 2026. They are required to submit proposals in a sealed envelope marked with the proposal number and project name. The contractor must maintain insurance coverage including Workmen’s Compensation at statutory limits and liability insurance with a minimum limit of $2 million. Additionally, contractors must be authorized to transact business in Virginia.
