Residential Home Demolition Services

Background
The Town of Richlands, Virginia is seeking proposals from qualified and licensed contractors to provide complete general demolition services for residential structures within the town. The goal of this Request for Proposal (RFP) is to select a contractor capable of safely, efficiently, and legally demolishing structures in compliance with all applicable regulations.

Work Details
The selected contractor shall provide turnkey demolition services, including but not limited to:

- Obtaining all required permits and approvals
- Coordinating utility disconnections (electric, gas, water, sewer)
- Identifying and abating hazardous materials (if required, such as asbestos or lead-based paint)
- Complete demolition of existing structures
- Removal and lawful disposal of all debris
- Site grading and leveling to a safe condition
- Erosion control as required
- Final site cleanup suitable for inspection and approval.

Optional pricing includes foundation removal, basement backfill, tree or vegetation removal, and concrete or driveway removal.

Period of Performance
The RFP was issued on June 1, 2026, with a bid opening date set for August 3, 2026. The anticipated award date is August 14, 2026.

Place of Performance
Demolition services will be performed at various residential addresses in The Town of Richlands, Virginia, including specifically at 524 Locust Street.

Bidder Requirements
Proposals must include proof of a valid contractor’s license, a minimum of 10 years of demolition experience, proof of insurance (General Liability: $2,000,000; Workers’ Compensation; Automobile Liability), a description of similar past projects (at least 3 references), and a safety plan and record (EMR if available).
