Replace Domestic Water Heaters

Background
The Northern Virginia Community College (NVCC) is undertaking a project to replace domestic water heaters, pumps, and system components in the Donald L. Bisdorf Building located at 5000 Dawes Ave, Alexandria, VA. The goal of this contract is to ensure the efficient operation of the building's hot water supply system by replacing outdated equipment that has reached the end of its service life.

Work Details
The project involves the following key tasks:

1. Replacement of two natural gas domestic water heaters located in the mechanical penthouse of Bisdorf 1 Building. The new heaters will be smaller units with faster recovery times, allowing for reduced shutdowns while maintaining the same hot water storage capacity.

2. Replacement of three domestic water booster pump skids in Bisdorf 3 Building.

3. Installation of necessary piping and connections to ensure seamless integration with existing systems, including gas feeds and expansion tanks.

4. Compliance with all applicable codes including Virginia Energy Conservation Code (VECC) and local amendments.

Period of Performance
The work is expected to commence upon contract award and is scheduled to be completed by March 27, 2025.

The work will be performed at Northern Virginia Community College, specifically in the Donald L. Bisdorf Building located at 5000 Dawes Ave, Alexandria, VA.

Bidder Requirements
Bidders must comply with all federal, state, and local building codes and standards applicable to this project. Additionally, contractors are required to maintain full service to existing equipment during construction and must coordinate with existing systems to avoid conflicts.
