Refrigeration Maintenance

Background
The Commonwealth of Virginia, through the Piedmont Geriatric Hospital (PGH), is seeking qualified contractors to provide refrigeration maintenance services. The goal of this contract is to ensure the proper functioning and maintenance of refrigeration equipment located in the PGH Kitchen and associated food service areas, which is critical for food safety and operational efficiency.

Work Details
The contractor shall provide qualified HVAC/R technicians to perform maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and replacement services for refrigeration equipment. The scope of work includes:

1) Walk-In Coolers and Freezers: inspection, diagnosis, repair, leak detection, refrigerant recovery/recharging, coil cleaning, fan motor repair/replacement, valve service, thermostat troubleshooting;

2) Glycol Refrigeration Systems: inspection/maintenance of glycol circulation systems, pump operation verification/repair, glycol concentration testing/adjustment;

3) Refrigeration System Components: servicing compressors, condensers, evaporators;

4) Preventive Maintenance: scheduled inspections/maintenance of all refrigeration equipment;

5) Emergency and Corrective Repairs: troubleshooting system failures and responding to emergency refrigeration failures affecting food storage;

6) Documentation: providing service reports for all work performed and recording refrigerant usage in compliance with EPA regulations. All work must comply with applicable local codes and health department requirements.

Period of Performance
The contract will commence on the date of award and will continue for a period of one year with options for renewal as specified in the solicitation.

Place of Performance
All work will be performed at Piedmont Geriatric Hospital located at 5001 East Patrick Henry Highway, Burkeville, Virginia 23922.

Bidder Requirements
Bidders must be properly licensed to provide the specified services. Additionally, they must maintain required insurance coverages including Workers’ Compensation and Commercial General Liability. Bidders are also required to register in the eVA Internet e-procurement solution prior to submitting a bid.
