Background
Prince William County Public Schools (PWCS) is located 35 miles southwest of Washington, D.C. and 80 miles north of Richmond, Virginia. The county encompasses 348 square miles and stretches from the Potomac River to the Bull Run Mountains. PWCS enrollment on September 20, 2023 was 89,945 pupils, making it the second largest of 138 school divisions in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
There are currently 61 elementary schools, 17 middle schools, 13 high schools, 3 combined schools, and 3 other educational institutions.
The PWCS Mathematics Program is grounded in research-based instructional practices described by NCTM’s Effective Mathematics Teaching Practices as authored in Principles to Actions: Ensuring Mathematical Success for All (Executive Summary).
Current goals include the utilization of tasks that promote reasoning and problem solving, mathematical discourse, and the concrete-representational-abstract method.

Work Details
The purpose of this Request for Proposal (RFP) is to solicit sealed proposals to establish a contract through competitive negotiations for the provision of K-12 mathematics curriculum materials based on the 2023 Virginia Mathematics Standards of Learning to be developed in collaboration with the PWCS Mathematics Team.
The initiative is in response to a short timeline to produce instructional curricular materials for use in the 2024-2025 school year.
The solution must incorporate evidence- or research-based practices, offer an approach that can be used with English Learners and Students with Disabilities, include unit guides, unit assessments, model lesson plans per grade band (K-2, 3-5, 6-8, and 9-12), and meet PWCS accessibility requirements.
The Contractor will be required to meet with PWCS Mathematics Team at a minimum of every two weeks to review completed work.

Period of Performance
The initial term of this contract shall be from Date of Award to August 31, 2026, with the option to renew for two additional two-year periods upon mutual written consent of the parties to the contract.
