Opal Public Water System Improvements

Background
The Opal Public Water System Improvements project is initiated by the Fauquier County Water and Sanitation Authority (FCWSA) to enhance the water supply infrastructure in the Opal area. The goal of this contract is to develop a new groundwater well site, install a water main, and construct an elevated storage tank to improve water service reliability and capacity for local residents.

Work Details
The contractor will be responsible for the following tasks:

1. Develop one remote groundwater well site which includes:
- Installation of a submersible well pump and riser pipe
- Installation of a pitless adapter
- Construction of a treatment building
- Installation of a generator
- Site piping, fencing, site lighting, access road, and associated electrical, mechanical, instrumentation, and site work.

2. Furnish and install approximately 6,325 linear feet of 12-inch ductile iron water main and 45 linear feet of 24-inch casing pipe using jack and bore methods, along with all associated appurtenances.

3. Furnish and install one elevated storage tank with a capacity of 500,000 gallons and a total height of 157 feet including tank foundation, access drive, and landscape screening.

4. Perform associated electrical work, controls and instrumentation setup, as well as other work as specified in the project drawings.

Period of Performance
The contractor is required to achieve Substantial Completion within 540 days from the Notice to Proceed date and Final Completion within an additional 30 days after achieving Substantial Completion.

Place of Performance
The contract work will be performed at various locations in Opal, Fauquier County, Virginia including the designated groundwater well site and along designated routes for water main installation.

Bidder Requirements
Bidders must provide bid security amounting to five percent (5%) of the Bid Price as referenced on the Bid Form. The successful bidder will also need to submit a Performance Bond and Payment Bond as outlined in the Project Manual.
