ODU EVMS Ophthalmology Clinic

Background
The project involves the renovation and modification of the existing first-floor office suite at Andrews Hall, located on the Macon and Joan Brock Virginia Health Sciences EVMS campus of Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia. The goal is to accommodate a new ophthalmology clinic, waiting room, and staff support spaces. This project is part of the efforts by Old Dominion University to enhance healthcare facilities on their campus.

Work Details
The scope of work includes:
- Renovation and modification of the existing first-floor office suite to create a new ophthalmology clinic, waiting room, and staff support spaces.
- Specific tasks include selective demolition, installation of new finishes (including gypsum board, acoustical panel ceilings, resilient flooring), plumbing upgrades (domestic water piping and fixtures), HVAC system installation (including ductwork and air handling units), electrical work (lighting and power distribution), and fire protection systems.
- The construction will also involve compliance with prevailing wage laws as determined by the Department of Labor and Industry.

Period of Performance
The anticipated construction period is from May 12, 2026, with substantial completion required by October 12, 2026, and final completion no later than November 10, 2026.

Place of Performance
All work will be performed at Andrews Hall located at 721 Fairfax Ave, Norfolk, VA 23507.

Bidder Requirements
Bidders must be licensed in Virginia as a Class 'A' Contractor with a Commercial Building Contractors CBC license classification. A bid bond equal to 5% of the bid amount is required at submission. Bidders must also provide:
- A current Certificate of Insurance with appropriate coverages and limits.
- A current SWaM designation if applicable.
- References for similar projects completed in the past ten years.
- A copy of their DPOR License.
