Background
Greene County, Virginia, a political subdivision of the Commonwealth of Virginia, is soliciting informal proposals for the redesign and redevelopment of its official tourism website, www.ExploreGreene.com. This website serves as the primary destination marketing platform for Greene County, promoting outdoor recreation, agritourism, arts, heritage, events, and visitor services.

The existing website is approximately ten years old and does not reflect current best practices in destination marketing, mobile usability, accessibility, or content management. The County seeks a professional website design and development firm with demonstrated experience working with tourism organizations, particularly in rural tourism destinations.

Work Details
The project involves the following key objectives and services:

- Modernizing the design and user experience of ExploreGreene.com;
- Ensuring full mobile responsiveness;
- Improving navigation and content organization;
- Highlighting Greene County’s tourism assets through strong visuals;
- Providing an easy-to-manage WordPress content management system;
- Implementing basic on-page SEO best practices.

Specific services include:

- Redesigning ExploreGreene.com using primarily existing content with limited content writing focused on editing and reorganizing materials;
- Developing the site using WordPress CMS (preferred);
- Creating a fully responsive design for all devices;
- Providing online previews and a reasonable number of revision rounds.

Functionality requirements include:

- Photo and video galleries;
- An events calendar (manual entry and/or external feed);
- Online forms for visitor inquiries and newsletter signups;
- Maps integration with “What’s Nearby” features;
- Implementation of current on-page SEO best practices including optimization for AI-driven search tools;
- Google Analytics 4 integration.

Hosting services will involve migration to County-approved or vendor-recommended hosting while continuing to use the ExploreGreene.com domain. Additionally, up to four hours of CMS training will be provided for County staff.

Period of Performance
The contract term will extend through project completion following the proposal acceptance.

The work will be performed in Greene County, Virginia.

Bidder Requirements
Proposals must demonstrate firm background and qualifications with experience in tourism websites; rural tourism experience is preferred. Bidders must provide examples of at least three comparable projects with live links, three professional references, a proposed approach and project timeline, an itemized cost proposal including hourly rates for future updates, and an estimated start date following Notice to Proceed.
