Background
Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Virginia Tech) is seeking to establish a contract for mechanical, electrical, and plumbing services to support the maintenance of its main campus in Blacksburg, which spans 2600 acres and includes over 125 buildings. The goal of this contract is to augment the existing services provided by Virginia Tech Facilities Services with properly licensed and experienced contractors capable of delivering these essential services.
Work Details
The contractor will provide mechanical, electrical, and plumbing services on an as-needed basis for all facilities/properties held by Virginia Tech throughout Montgomery County, Virginia, and/or the Commonwealth of Virginia. Services include maintenance, repair, installation, and construction of industrial/commercial mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems and equipment. The contractor must supply all labor, tools, equipment, transportation, consumables, and incidentals necessary for satisfactory performance.
Specific personnel qualifications include:
1. Mechanical Working Superintendent: Must have master plumber steamfitter certification and experience managing mechanical projects.
2. Millwright: Journeyman level certification or minimum 5 years experience.
3. Pipefitter: Minimum five years experience with journeyman level certification.
4. Certified Welder: Minimum five years experience with ASME certification.
5. Electrical Working Superintendent: Must have master electrician certification.
6. Plumbing Working Superintendent: Must have master plumber level certification.
Period of Performance
The initial term of the contract is two (2) years with options for two (2) one-year renewals based on mutual agreement.
Place of Performance
Services will be performed at Virginia Tech's main campus in Blacksburg, Virginia, as well as at other facilities throughout Montgomery County and the Commonwealth of Virginia.
Bidder Requirements
Contractors must be properly licensed for the services they provide. They are encouraged to participate in SWaM (Small Women-owned Minority-owned) business participation programs. Contractors must register as vendors within the eVA system prior to submitting proposals.
