Management & Operation of University Bookstore

Background
Old Dominion University (ODU) is a public doctoral research institution located in Norfolk, Virginia, serving over 25,000 students. The university is seeking to establish a multi-year contract for the management and operation of its bookstore to enhance financial effectiveness and service quality. The bookstore serves both the university community and the surrounding area, providing essential educational resources and merchandise.

Work Details
The contractor will be responsible for managing and operating the bookstore, which includes:

1. Providing innovative ideas to increase traffic to both the physical store and website.
2. Offering course materials in all formats and supporting textbook adoption processes.
3. Facilitating both in-store and online book buyback programs.
4. Ensuring efficient access to textbooks and course packs.
5. Integrating technology for various systems including LMS, registration, and financial aid.
6. Implementing measures to reduce course material costs for students.
7. Managing financial administration including ordering books, billing, collections, and preparing annual financial reports.
8. Securing necessary licenses and permits for operations.
9. Paying all applicable taxes related to bookstore operations.
10. Maintaining an aesthetically appealing environment conducive to student engagement.

Period of Performance
The contract will commence upon award and continue through June 30, 2030, with two additional five-year renewal options available.

Place of Performance
The services will be performed at Old Dominion University's main campus bookstore located on Monarch Way and at the Macon & Joan Brock Virginia Health Sciences campus.
