ITB # 2025-025 ADA Concrete Handicap Ramp Installation

Background
The City of Salem, Virginia, is seeking sealed bids from qualified contractors for the installation of ADA-compliant concrete handicap ramps as part of Invitation to Bid (ITB) # 2025-025.

The project aims to enhance accessibility in public spaces, aligning with the City’s commitment to improving infrastructure for individuals with disabilities.

Work Details
The contractor will provide all labor, materials, and equipment necessary for the installation of ADA concrete handicap ramps. This includes:

- Demolition and disposal of existing non-compliant ramps
- Excavation
- Backfill
- Forming
- Pouring concrete
- Installing detectable warning plates
- Landscaping with topsoil and seed/mulch as required.

The work also involves the removal and reinstallation of adjacent curb, curb and gutter, sidewalk, and pavement to ensure compliance with ADA standards at specified locations. The project will follow technical specifications provided by Mattern & Craig dated April 15, 2025.

Period of Performance
The work must achieve substantial completion within 240 consecutive calendar days from the commencement date specified in a Notice to Proceed issued by the City.

Final completion must occur no later than 30 calendar days after acceptance of substantial completion.

Place of Performance
The contract work will be performed at various locations throughout the City of Salem, Virginia as identified in the project documents.

Bidder Requirements
Bidders must possess a valid Virginia Class A Contractor's License and demonstrate at least five years of experience with similar projects. Additionally, bidders are required to submit a bid guarantee of at least 5% of the bid amount in the form of a certified check or bid bond. A valid City of Salem business license is also required if applicable.
