Background
The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) is issuing this solicitation for the construction of a precast-prestressed concrete slab superstructure with BTB-1 railing components. The project aims to replace an existing bridge over the North Fork Stinking River along Route 670 (Deer View Road) in Pittsylvania County, Virginia. Work Details
The contractor will be responsible for providing a precast-prestressed concrete voided/solid slab superstructure with BTB-1 railing components. The specifications include:
- Construction of a 41'-0" prestressed concrete slab span with HL-93 loading capacity.
- Use of Class A5 concrete for prestressed voided and solid slabs, and Class A4 concrete for substructures.
- All reinforcing steel must conform to ASTM A615, Grade 60, with corrosion-resistant reinforcing steel as specified.
- Prestressing strands must be uncoated, seven-wire, low-relaxation steel strands conforming to ASTM A416 Grade 270.
- H-Piles must be ASTM A709 Grade 50 steel driven to practical refusal.
- The project includes detailed requirements for waterproofing, epoxy applications, and installation of joint fabrics at shear keys and pier joints.
- The contractor must ensure compliance with VDOT Road and Bridge Specifications and any modifications outlined in the solicitation documents.

The contract period will commence upon award and is expected to be completed by November 18, 2025.
