IFB 26019-JT Demolition Services for Driver Elementary School

Background
The City of Suffolk is issuing this Invitation for Bids (IFB) to solicit qualified contractors for the demolition services of Driver Elementary School, a one-story masonry and steel building constructed in 1968.
The school, located at 4207 Driver Ln., Suffolk, VA, has a total area of approximately 55,100 sq. ft.
The primary goal of this contract is to safely abate hazardous materials such as asbestos and lead paint before proceeding with the demolition.

Work Details
The contractor must provide a comprehensive Demolition and Abatement Plan within ten (10) calendar days after receiving the Notice to Proceed.
The scope of work includes:
- Complete abatement and proper disposal of asbestos and lead-containing materials as per the attached specifications.
- Full demolition of the school building including all concrete slabs, foundation walls, asphalt pavement, trees, and hedges.
- Backfilling of all remaining voids with clean material free from debris, stumps, roots, or organic materials.
- Provision of all necessary labor, transportation, equipment, permits, and fees for demolition and abatement services.
- Removal of rubble and debris to an appropriate disposal area.
- Responsibility for any property damage to adjacent properties during the demolition process.
- Compliance with safety regulations to secure the site against unauthorized access and ensure public safety throughout the project.

Period of Performance
The work must be completed within 90 calendar days from the Notice to Proceed.

Place of Performance
The contract will be performed at Driver Elementary School located at 4207 Driver Ln., Suffolk, VA.

Bidder Requirements
Bidders must demonstrate experience in similar work. A valid Virginia contractor's license is required based on the value of work performed.
All bids exceeding $100,000 must include a Bid Bond equal to 5% of the total bid amount.
Contractors must also comply with local business licensing requirements.
