Background
The Sewells Point Elementary School Roofing Systems Replacement project is initiated by Norfolk Public Schools, located in Norfolk, Virginia. The project aims to replace the existing roofing systems of the school, originally constructed in 1966. The current roofing features an asphalt built-up roof covered with a polyurethane foam (P.U.F) roof coating. The goal is to ensure the safety and functionality of the school facilities by addressing potential hazardous materials during the renovation process.

Work Details
The contractor will be responsible for the following tasks:
1. Removal and replacement of the existing roofing system at Sewells Point Elementary School.
2. Identification and handling of hazardous materials, including asbestos-containing materials (ACM), lead-based paint (LBP), and PCB-containing fixtures.
3. Conducting bulk sampling of suspect ACMs, paint chip samples for lead, cadmium, and chromium concentrations, and sealant samples for PCB content prior to any disturbance during renovations.
4. Compliance with all relevant regulations including AHERA for asbestos management and OSHA standards for worker safety.

Period of Performance
The contract performance period is set from February 6, 2025, until completion of the roofing replacement project as specified in the contract documents.

Place of Performance
The work will be performed at Sewells Point Elementary School located at 7928 Hampton Boulevard, Norfolk, Virginia.

Bidder Requirements
Bidders must comply with all local licensing requirements and provide necessary bonding as specified in the contract documents.
